National Association of Melkite Women (NAMW)
The National Association of Melkite Women (NAMW) was founded in 1986 by Archbishop Joseph Tawil, of blessed memory. Our purpose is to promote and support vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the United States. We communicate with all of the women’s groups in our parishes hoping to make each one aware of what others are doing to further our goal. Our feast day is the Sunday of the Ointment Bearing Women. These women followed Jesus around, ministering to Him out of their own resources. NAMW uses its resources to minister to our Eparchy.
National Association of Melkite Youth (NAMY)
The National Association of Melkite Youth (NAMY) is created to provide a common forum and activities for all youth 13-18 years of age within the Eparchy of Newton. The organization is to initiate, coordinate and implement religious, social, educational and humanitarian programs designed to promote the involvement of its membership in the Christian Faith and Melkite tradition.
Melkite Association of Young Adults (MAYA)
The Melkite Association of Young Adults (MAYA) is an organization of Melkite Catholics ages 18 – 26 (and at least 1 year out of high school) under patronage of our bishop, the Most Reverend Nicholas Samra.
MAYA members from all over the country meet at least once a year, at the annual MAYA National Retreat prior to the National Melkite Convention to gain a greater understanding of God, ourselves, and those around us through the daily services. (Orthros, Vespers, and Compline), presentations by our moderator and others, faith sharing, discussion, and fellowship.
Many local MAYA chapters around the country have also hosted retreats throughout the year in order to keep our members active in strengthening the practices of spirituality, fellowship, and service.
To join MAYA and receive updates on upcoming events, please register at the website. The contact information for each MAYA board member is available to registered members.
The Melkite Ambassadors is an organization open to those in the Melkite Community, ages 25-40, who want to participate in advocacy, catechesis mentorship, community life, community service, leadership development, and prayer.
The Melkite Ambassadors’ mission is to acquire a deeper Christian faith in order to reinforce and improve all aspects of our parish and the Melkite Church.
